This is a very rare George Kay of Esopus NY, slot or hobo knife. This was made sometime during the Civil War, 1861-1865. I do not find this maker listed in Goins’ but have read the name of this maker in an article about Civil War slot knives. This very rare knife is in great shape. The fork and knife blades having very good snap while the spoon looks to be made of plated copper and has no snap and only resistance. Closed this large knife measures 4 1/8”. The reverse handles are missing a big chip in the cocobolo handles but it is still intact. This fine old knife would make a great addition to any collection. Please see my other items.
