Seven Sisters, or Stars and Triangles. Circa 1920. Almost 100 years old, this hand quilted beauty is above all else, a feast for the eyes, being a textile optical illusion. This quilt is an all cotton pieced quilt, and features groups, each made of 7, 6-pointed stars grouped together to form various visual effects. From one angle, each group of stars forms a single star. From another angle, some groups look like 3 triangles with 3 stars \'printed\' inside each one. And from yet another angle, each block has its own 3-dimensional look. When choosing this pattern for a quilt, placing the colors and designs of each fabric is very important.
This pattern, especially made with printed fabrics, is one of the more challenging ones for a quilter to successfully make, and only experienced seamstresses usually attempted patterns of this difficulty.
Because fewer 7-Star quilts were ever made, fewer quilts in this design remain today. The stars are made from multi-colored, printed fabrics, cut in diamond shapes and joined together with white diamond-shaped pieces with scalloped blue boarders, hand piece stitching, hand quilted, hand binding, all cotton, lays flat. Tiny stitching and exquisitely done by talented hands. Charming old quilt would go wonderful with any decor style. Very beautiful quilt for display or to use.
Measurements: 76x68 Light Weight
CONDITION: Good used condition. Has fraying, worn/stains areas, needs TLC. It\'s up to new owner to laundry. (See Pictures As Part Of Condition). Please keep in mind that vintage and antique means old or used and sometimes comes with flaws representative with age, we have no way of verifying if they ever been exposed to smoke or pets, unless otherwise stated in the description.
