Vintage, Art Deco, 30 hour, automaton, novelty desk timepiece on green marble base, (the little blacksmith) model, made by an anonymous Swiss watchmaking firm, circa 1920s.
Case: 2.25\" x 2\" x 1\" Dome shaped desk novelty timepiece about the size of a pocket watch with a knurled edge enameled bezel enclosed within a brass canister casing. Small brass feet below are doweled into the top of a variegated green marble base which sits flat to the surface.

Dial: Silvered metallic dial with stylized Arabic hours, closed minute ring, skeletonized \'Cathedral\' hands (Art Deco era), heart shaped aperture in lower dial has a winged cherub, \'the little blacksmith\', hammering the seconds on his anvil. The dial is marked above, \'Le Petit Forgeron\', while below the markings indicate a Swiss made clock as well as a Swiss patented example.

Movement: The back of the canister is marked \'Le Petit Forgeron\' for the model, fabricated in Switzerland and has a hand setting knob, round spring winder and a lever marked for faster and slower in French letters, A & R as well as in English, F & S. The movement, not shown, has a straight line lever escapement and a balance wheel (instead of a pendulum) and made in the form of a pocket watch movement.
