Vintage Biedermeier Solid Wood 18\" ObeliskMid Century Modern Decor Accessory Superb Beidermeier Solid Wood Obelisk.A very nicely scaled and constructed wood obelisk. The woods chosen to complete this piece is very figured andbeautifullycolored. Lastly the ebonized details give a manly and timeless element. In excellent condition with noscratches, marks or damage and very minor surface wear. Measures 18\" tall and the base is 4-1/4\" inches square. A scarce and beautiful vintage mid century modern accessory piece!Obelisks were prominent in architecture of the ancient Egyptians who placed them at the entrances of temples. The word “obelisk” as used in English today is of Greek rather than Egyptian origin because Herodotus, The Greek Traveller, was on the the first classical writers to describe the objects. A number of ancient Egyptian obelisks are known to have survived, plus the “Unfinished Obelisk” found partly hewn from its quarry at Aswan.
