Braun DN 30s digital alarm clock by Dietrich Lubs, 1983

A wonderful Braun piece – and one of my personal favourites. It looks like the ultimate 1970s design item, but somehow it\'s also hard to believe that it is over 30 years old.

The stylish L-shaped design is matched by a range of functions that includes an automatically dimming LED display and touch sensitive snooze bar.

This was conceived by Lubs while he was working under the Design Directorship of Dieter Rams. Of course the pair had previously collaborated on the iconic DW 30 digital wristwatch.

The clock is in very good vintage used condition. The display is bright, the clock keeps excellent time and the alarm function works. The only slight thing to mention is the fast forward button for setting the time is a little temperamental, so it can take a little while to first set the time. Cosmetically it is very good indeed with only very minor surface signs of use consistent with decades of careful use – there are no deep scratches, cracks or signs of repair.

Please note that the item was tested on the European mains electricity supply – others please check with an electrician local to you to confirm functionality. The label states that the clock uses 220 V ~ /50 Hz. All vintage electrical items should be safety checked before use. Needless to say, being a vintage item, its longevity as an accurate or functioning timepiece can\'t be guaranteed.

Condition of items

Vintage electrical items are sold in their original condition without electrical guarantee, so must always be safety checked by a qualified electrician (in the country of intended use) before use.

Returns

Returns are possible, if reported within 7 days and by prior arrangement, if a mistake has been made in the listing and the item is not as described, but for no other reason. I\'m afraid that straightforward buyer\'s remorse does not qualify and that all return costs must be borne by the buyer.
