Description: For sale is a 1935 Conn “M” Series alto saxophone. The “M” series is also referred to as “Standard” or “Naked Lady” series. These models feature a single, underslung octave key, rolled tone holes, one-sided bell keys, and a microtuner which allows you to raise or lower the pitch of the instrument “while maintaining optimal volume in the chamber of the mouthpiece, thus avoiding disturbance to intonation” (Wikipedia.com). It has a brass-colored finish despite it looking more silver toned in most of the photos.
This sax has a beautiful sound and needs someone to make it “sing” again. According to Felixssaxophonecorner.blogspot.com, “…the M series saxophones are among the best saxophones I\'ve ever played, a combination of pure craftsmanship, sound and ease of facility. They are legendary saxophones…” He also refers to it as, “the famous \"Naked Lady\" saxophone that many vintage sax lovers covet.” The instrument is in good condition with some of the brass color finish wearing away and a pearl key roll missing. Also, since it has not been played for a while, new pads will probably be necessary.
