Vintage Dorothy Thorpe Style Art Deco Silver Ombre Punch Bowl Set 1950s Barware 14 piece
For sale I have this great Dorothy Thorpe inspired vintage punch bowl set and rack by Vitreon Queen\'s Lusterware from the 1950s. This sleek Art Deco retro set features a large bowl with the silver band metallic fade ombre design and 12 matching roly poly style glasses. The bowl and glasses nestle perfectly in a matching silver caddy rack. 14 piece set as pictured. Bowl measures 11 inches in width x 6.75 inches in height. Each glass measures 2.5 inches in width x 2.25 inches in height. The silver metal caddy rack with handles measures about 18 inches across and about 5.5 inches in height. As years go by fewer and fewer sets are found with all the original glasses still intact. In great vintage condition. Set has a good weight to it at almost 11 lbs. There is some minor silver wear on the bowl and two of the glasses due to age that in no way takes away from the beauty of this set. The rack has a few very minor brown spots also from age.An elegant addition to any barware set.Classy Concoctions had this information on metallic fade or ombre glasses.
\"The silver fade or silver ombre glassware famous for their recent appearances
in Don Draper’s office on Mad Men are Vitreon Queen\'s Lusterware.
Vitreon Queen’s lusterware, ltd. was started by Sidney Sigety.
His home and business was based in Brooklyn, NY.
Queen’s Lusterware’s heyday was in the mid 50’s and 60’s,
the same era as Dorothy Thorpe.
Queen’s Lusterware features the signature ‘silver fade’ or ‘silver ombre’ effect on glassware.
They used the process of applying metallic glaze to give glass an iridescent metallic effect.
