A Gorgeous Vintage Zuni Turquoise & Coral Silver Bib Necklace masterfully handcrafted from Fine Quality sterling silver (.925) by master Zuni silversmith and lapidarist, Effie Calavaza (EFFIE C.). This Necklace features a solid silver bar adorned withthree (3) natural Sleeping Beauty Mine Turquoise Nuggets and two (2) Meditteranean Red Coral Nuggets, and incorporates Effie\'s Signature Snake design! The High Grade Turquoise nuggets exhibit Beautiful Bright Blue colors with interesting dark matrix inclusions. The Stunning Coral Nuggets exhibit a Deep Red color also with Gorgeousnatural qualities! Each of the five (5) hand carved Turquoise and Coral Nuggets measures approximately 7/16\" across by 3/8\" tall and each are securely set in a hand cut wide sawtooth silver bezel. The Nuggets are set horizontally across the gently curved solid Sterling Silver Bar Centerpiece with two (2) Sterling Silver Snakes winding around the Nugget Settings in a Figure 8 pattern. The heads of both Snakes, with very special Coral Inlay Eyes, come to rest on either side of the center Turquoise Nugget. Each Nugget Setting is also beautifully accented with two (2) large sterling silver raindrop bead spacers across the top and bottom.

The Centerpiece measures 2-3/4\" across by 9/16\" at widest point. A Fine handmade Sterling Silver (.925) short and long rounded rectangular link Chain Necklace is attached to a fixed loop on either end of the Centerpiece, and each measures approximately 9\" in length on either side - Effie\'s standard for this style of Bib Necklace. Fit with standard Sterling Silver Spring Ring closure stamped \".925\", theNecklace measures approximately 21\" end-to-end and weighs a solid 19.8 grams. The back of the Centerpiece is hallmarked \"EFFIE C. ZUNI\" by this renowned and Highly Collected artist. Necklace is in Excellent Vintage condition. Effie Calavaza (Effie C.), a Zuni artist from New Mexico, is one of the most collected and most beloved of Native American Artists. She specializes in the traditional sand casting technique using the finest of sterling silver, and is internationally famous for her distinctive snake design jewelry with inlaid eyes. Her wonderful jewelry incorporates large nuggets, primarily of quality turquoise and coral. Learning from her husband, Juan Calavaza, Effie began silversmithing in 1956. Together she and her husband shared the hallmark “JUAN C. ZUNI” until his death ca. 1970. Since then, her hallmark, \"EFFIE C. ZUNI\" is stamped into each of her pieces – now a family hallmark used by Effie and her children. The crafting of Zuni Indian jewelry is an art which demands expertise, patience and exactness.
