Earlyon the mannequin was referred to as a , “Dummy”. By about the1920\'s mannequins started to be made with a more durable compositemade with plaster and department stores changed the term “dummy”intomannequin and that use has stuck ever since.
Thisis an old mannequin that is estimated to be circa 1920\'s - 1930\'sbased upon the mannequin material that is a hard composite typematerial with a layer of plaster over it.
Thisdress form was obtained from a company that was founded in the early1920\'s that the metal stand and base were attached to the dress formtherefore I can only assume that they were originally designed to beused together.
