This is Jim, a Victorian figurine made by Florence Ceramics, CA. Florence Ward started making the figurines more as a hobby to keep herself busy during the 1940s after the death of one son and when the second son and her husband went off to serve in WWII. When son #2 and her husband returned she had a manufacturing company producing the lovely little figurines that were already in demand. The company was active, I believe, from about 1942 until 1977. Thestyles were inspired by Godey\'s designs.

This figurine is marked Florence Ceramics Copyright and does not include the Pasadena, CA wording as many of the figurines do. (The word \"Florence\" is not visible). For that reason, I believe this may be one of the earlier pieces, circa 1950s. His name, Jim, is incised on the bottom, barely readable but there. Jim is one of the more common figurines, but not often found in the pink suit. There are a lot ofgold hand paintedhighlights with no paint loss except for one tiny spot on the bottom of one paint leg.He is just about 6\" tall. He comes from an estate collection and I find no damage, paint loss or flaws. There is some contact wear on the bottom as he has been displayed. I cannot guarantee that it has not been exposed to odors: smoking, fragrance, cooking, mustiness, mothballs, other types of storage odors or pets.
