For sale today is this handsome-but-well-worn edition of Gillette\'s second attempt at one piece TTO razors, the Sheraton from 1937-1939. An open comb very similar to the slightly earlier Aristocrat, this ( originally ) gold-plated razor features a smaller diameter handle design that would later be incorporated into first, the 1940 Milord and 1941 Ranger Tech, and then the enormously popular 40\'s style Super Speed.As seen by the photos, this gentleman has experienced better days, and is in what I would consider as Good condition. The gold plating is almost non-existent, having worn off sometime during the past 80 years, exposing the yellow brass head, neck piece and knob, as well as the red brass handle, to the elements.Mechanically, all appears fairly decent except for one glaring problem...it is suffering from \"dropped knob syndrome\", which means that the circular crimp on the outside of the handle barrel has worn internally over the years, causing the knob to eventually work loose. This can be corrected using a careful technique involving a brass washer and a pipe cutter, but I prefer not to attempt it due to lack of experience. Additionally, the teeth are all (mostly) straight, as well as having good door alignment with an even blade gap. The set screw in the base of the handle is there, but areas of old soap left up inside are making it hard to see.IMO, it can be used as a shaver or for display as it sits, but I\'m sure that collectors would prefer it replated and the dropped knob repaired...which is why I have listed it as such. I\'ve lightly cleaned, sterilized and polished it to bring out the details, but this unique double edge really needs someone to give it some TLC.Looking for a hard-to-find Gillette Sheraton and feel up to a bit of repair?
