This is a great piece in the classic Original Hartmann Belting LeatherMade in the USA! (Back when everything was not made in China.)This item is made of real Belting Leather. This quality of leather is no longer used by Hartmann. The current Leather Being offered by Samsonite which bought out Hartmann is not belting leather as this item it is a low grade grain leather, that will peel over time. Real belting leather will last you a lifetimeHartmannSome notes and thoughts about Hartmann and Belting Leather:Hartmann has changed in many ways over the years. The ownership has changed several times. Most recently Hartmann was purchased by Samsonite in August 2012. It remains to be seen how Samsonite will handle the brand, the quality of the leathers used, the quality of the craftsmanship, the parts and repairs business and more. Seeing as how Hartmann has completely closed it Tennessee manufacturing, repairs and parts operations since August, I don\'t have high hopes.Unfortunately for those of us who are Hartmann enthusiasts, Hartmann was owned by Clarion Capital Partners LLC, a New York-based private-equity firm, prior to the Samsonite purchase from 2007-2012. During the reign of Clarion, Hartmann moved the vast 95%+ majority of its manufacturing overseas (mostly to China). The craftsmanship from China has been better than I expected, but the quality of the leather from China has been absolutely terrible. In fact, the leather Hartmann is representing as Belting Leather is not Belting Leather, judging from the last few items I have purchased. What they are using is a top grain (corrected grain) leather, with some sort of coating on it. It looks cheap and plastic-like. It looks like this coating will peel off over time. I hope Samsonite takes note of this false advertising and begins to use real Belting Leather again, which is a full grain top quality product. In the early Clarion years and dating back to 1997 under Brown-Forman Corporation ownership, Hartmann used a leather that is real Belting Leather, but it had a slightly more \"pink\" tint to it than most of us would expect. This is still very high quality product and I do sell this product. I refer to this generation of Belting Leather as \"2nd Generation\" Belting Leather.Prior to 1997 Hartmann used its highest quality real Belting Leather, sourced from the best tannery in the world. This is the true tan colored Belting Leather that is the most coveted, and becoming nearly impossible to find in good condition. I refer to this as \"Original\" Belting Leather.
