This Imari Ware porcelain footed bowl is richly decorated with chrysanthemum, cherry and other flowers, and in the center of the bowl are the figures of two large blue peacocks on the branch of the sakura tree. The bowl rim is edged in gilt which is in excellent condition. This piece has an overall formal decoration reminiscent of a rich silk textile. The vivid colors in this bowl are white, iron red, orange, gold, green, blue, pink, yellow, and brown. This is a very finely painted piece. With this style of Imari, the surface texture is slightly rough, and it has a few tiny glaze pits. This bowl has the most beautiful long resonant ring when you tap it.
