Purchased this from an estate sale many years ago and it is one of the nicest vintage maple wood bowls that I have ever run across. Its made of solid Burl maple wood and I believe it was made from the crotch of a sugarmaple tree, it has a fantastic smooth and slight waxy patina with a natural honey toned patina and its about as clean as you\'regonna find and there are no chips or cracks anywhere, A very solid bowl. I believe these were made for mixing and kneading dough but could be used for any purpose in the kitchen the burl grain is fantastic, it has the wonderful most desirable oblong round appearancewith the rim measuring16 5/8\" wide across widest point and 15 1/8\" at narrowestpoint across the rim. Over 5\" deep. Bowl is unmarked. Truly amazing condition.
