I’mvery pleased to offer this gorgeous 1940s ceiling fixture by the famous VirdenCompany!
The fixture has a frosted white shade. This has incrediblefloral designs that are not readily obvious until the fixture is lighted. Theresult is unexpected, and delightful.
Under the shade is a wholly separate glass diskthat is quite extraordinary. These are normally lost over time so that thiscritical component remainsin situ is amazing, and wonderful.
As the 1940s catalog image will attest, the fixtureis highly original. Only the finial is different, although the finial on thefixture is almost certainly original (all lighting companies offered subtlevariations during the manufacturing span of each light fixture). Above the finialis a small domed disk; this is original, too.
When I purchased the fixture the ceiling canopy waschrome-plated (as was the finial) however the plating was in poor condition(this is pretty standard for Virden chrome canopies), so I had the finial andcanopy, at great expense, nickel-plated (my plater does not do chrome). The effectis dazzling, and the fixture shimmers as originally intended.
Wholly restored and with new sockets and wiring, this fixture isready to hang, and comes with all the mounting hardware needed!
