Vintage Lotus-Flower Suanpan Wood Abacus With Brass Trim and Original Box This is a wood with brass trim Chinese abacus called a suanpan. This abacus measures approximately 24cm x 12cm, and has 13 rods. The rods, beads, and frame are wood. The rods each have 5 beads on the lower deck, and 2 on the upper, which would indicate that this is a somewhat old abacus, as modern suanpans typically are 4+1.

This abacus comes as shown in the pictures, with its original box. The identifying plate on the top edge says Lotus-Flower Brand and Made In The Peoples Republic of China. As the close ups show, there are light scuffs and other wear on the brass trim from age and normal usage over the years. Additionally, the previous owner\'s name is painted on the back of the abacus, as well as on the back of the box. See pictures for details.
