Here are twoVintage MARCH of DIMES FIGHT INFANTILE PARALYSIS pinback buttons manufactured by BASTIAN BROS. ROCHESTER, NY. Union labels also on sides.
Great graphics and strong colors, both are in excellent condition and measure 3/4\" diameter.
These are OVER 70 YEARS OLD!
Many of these early pin-back buttons are quite scarce and are very hard to find. Most of the earlier celluloids have their original identifying paper labels on the backs. The tin litho buttons will also have the manufacturer’s marks on the edging of the buttons when applicable. These are very helpful indicators for distinguishing them from modern reproductions.
ALL of these buttons are original pieces from the period and NOT reproductions.
*Please note that most button conditions will vary due to age. Some of these pinback buttons are 90-100 years old! The earlier celluloid buttons typically exhibit foxing and rusting, mostly around the collet, to some degree. Some may even have minor hairline cracking of the celluloid surface. The tin lithographed buttons may exhibit surface scratches, scuffs or maybe a minor dent to some degree.
*Also note that many of these buttons are in great shape, with strong colors (not flea-market sun exposure), as they are from a very proud, well taken care of collection, of many years that is being slowly dispersed.
Hopefully the closeup photos will help in judging the overall condition of a particular button. Remember that these are extreme closeup photos and usually the buttons are actually better than they appear in the photos. We’ll try to mention any obvious condition issues when noted.
