This is a rare one of a kind pin made by the late and great Michael Little Elk. He recently passed away - another loss to the world of Native American jewelry.
He was raised on the reservation by his Lakota Grandmother. This amazing artist lived in the Southwest with his Navajo wife. He liked to accent his silver work with gold details and create a variety with polish, texture, darkened silver, etc. Horses and horsemen were favorite subjects, as were elk warriors and narrative pieces depicting Lakota lore. His jewelry and sculptures have been included in the College of the Smithsonian\'s, New York Museum of the American Indian and many galleries around the United States.
This fabulous pin weighs 21 grams and measures 1 3/4\" long x 2 3/4\" wide. It depicts a warrior on his horse finished in cast sterling silver with 14 kt gold overlay. It is signed \"M L ELK 14kt\" with his elk antler hallmark. It is in excellent vintage condition. It is a true collector\'s item.
