This awesome antique tin friction toy \"Flying Saucer\" space ship is about 6 3/4\" long x 5 1/4\" wide and underneath it is marked \"Trade Mark Modern Toys JAPAN\" & \"Patent No.7916\". The space ship is beautifully formed with rich colors and fine attention to detail. The top-side is has a deeply ribbed texture and the rocket nozzles underneath are nicely embossed into the tin. It also has a deadly-looking sparking mechanism / blaster gun at the front of the cabin that is powered by the friction engine(!) There is some wear and rust but over all the flying saucer is in very good original condition.Original old hard rudder tires. The friction engine still works and makes a cool sound. The sparking mechanism still spins but the flint is worn down to a nub and no longer produces any sparks. I think the flint could be replaced by someone who knows what they are doing but the toy still looks good and it displays very well just the way it is. The top of the saucer has some corrosion and some rust that could be professionally cleaned and look great Overall very nice Ca. 1950s. Very Collectable Very Rare
