This is a listing for a vintage Navajo bench made necklace, otherwise known as Navajo pearls.
Hallmarks: Stamped sterling twice on the hook and eye clasp…once on each bead cap.
Condition: Absolutely no damage, well cared for vintage beads with beautiful patina and superb stamp work, strung on strong foxtail chain for excellent drape. Strong well-made hook and eye clasp.
Dimensions: Impressive 145 gram weight. Obviously hand wrought from heavy gauged sterling, but still very comfortable to wear. 23 inches long. Graduated beads with largest central bead measuring 1 inch in diameter and the smallest bead next to the hook and eye clasp measuring 7/16th of an inch in diameter.
Style and Quality: Classic hand wrought and stamped Navajo beads with seamless construction. Always nice to find a strand of bench made beads without an obvious seam dividing the bead down the center. Beautiful smooth surface presents the perfect background for the precise stamping. Geometric floral pattern that fans out towards the center of each bead. Pattern has been nicely oxidized for contrast and definition. A perfect example of Navajo silver work at it\'s best.
