Vintage Navajo Native American silver cuff bracelet with five exceptional turquoise gemstones.

This finely crafted circa 1940\'s bracelet features five outstanding turquoise specimens, each with the rare feature of partial translucence that imparts great depth and a glassy luster. The turquoise has a striking \"tortoise\" pattern, and all are highly saturated with rich colors that range from almost white, through several shades of green and blue-green to a deep pine-green. Adding to the striking presentation across the bracelet\'s 4 3/4 x 1 3/8-inch face is the range of matrix colors, which vary from silver and brown to an inky black. The heavy silver components include rope-twist wire around the gemstone bezels and bun-shaped beads between each stone top-and-bottom.

Unsigned, the silver tests positive for sterling and the bracelet measures 5 7/8-inches around the oval inner radius with a 1 1/2-inch gap, 1 3/8-inches wide at the center of the face and weighs 92.5 grams.

Turquoise, along with Blue Topaz, Tanzanite and Blue Zircon, is the birthstone for December and the 11th anniversary gemstone. It\'s been used in jewelry since prehistoric times and is the most popular gemstone in ethnic and tribal jewelry.
