Listed for sale is a beautiful East Indian Laurel and Carpathian Elm Burl AND ROSEWOOD COFFEE TABLE by George Nakashima. The COFFEE TABLE was crafted by Widdicomb furniture in Grand Rapids, MI. It is a rare and exceptional example of George Nakashima\'s earliest work. Soon after Nakashima came to Pennsylvania, he began building his studio. At this time, he also produced designs for Widdicomb and and created the Sundra series along with others, which used both solid hardwoods and exotic burl veneers in an effort to produce stunning and high quality piece shows no signs of damage and does show signs of age. The patina is rich and lovely.

Designed by George Nakashima in the late 1950s for Widdicomb, the \"Sundra\" coffee table echoes the asymmetry and adventurous shapes of Nakashima\'s famous free-form studio tables, as reinterpreted for series production. Thus there are delicious curves, and though there was no free-edge, this was compensated for by the lavish use of highly figured and expensive varieties of wood. This example has a top made up of several exotic species, including gorgeous Carpathian elm (a burl wood from center.
