Vintage RARE 1940\'s Masco No 9 microphone floor stand NY old deco midcentury # 2:

Hello and welcome to the House of Chrome.

You are looking at a very rare mid 1940\'s Masco No 9 microphone floor stand that has a cast iron (10 inch wide, two tier design) base and a two piece retractable chrome stemMade in New York. Masco was started in 1929 and made everything from automotive parts to microphone stands. They quit making stands however around the end of the 1940\'s or early 50\'s. Masco is still producing an untold amount of products today.

The original chrome on both the stems are in decent shape considering the age and use as seen in the pics provided. Both stems have an niceluster to the chrome but there are a few very lite scratches but otherwise extremely nice. There is one spot on the upper stem showing the brass beneath. What you see is exposed brass not rust. These early stems were made of brass and covered in chrome unlike the later stands that were steel covered chrome. Pretty nice considering your stand will never go to hell like the newer Atlas stands.

The action clutch holds the two stems in place nicely and the stand is adjustable from 35 inches tall to 64 inches tall. The 3 originalfelt pads were missing so I added 3 screw on Atlas rubber bumper pads and they do a great job of keeping the stand from scratching the floor. You can see there is just slight discoloration on the cast iron. The original paint is still present and very good. Usually these stands are quite rusty but not this one. A very fine example and will do any of your vintage mics justice.

I cannot stress how hard these stands are to come by and are excellent for the heavier microphones that you don\'t want to tip over for obvious reasons. Great for a \"Fatboy\" 55, RCA ribbon or Turner 101 C mic.

Overall this stand is a conservative 7 + on a scale of 1 - 10.

Very nice for a 70+ years old stand. This would make a very nice display stand for your vintage microphone and the thread is universal so any mic will fit on this stand. As with all my vintage microphones and stands...

I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The return shipping will be on you as I believe that\'s fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Check my rating.
