You are looking at a somewhat rare 1960\'s era Atlas microphone floor stand (model MS-4) that has a standard cast iron (10 inch wide) base but unique 3 piece retractable chrome stem Made in Parsippany, NJ. Atlas also made an MS-20 variant that was exactly the same except for the MS-20 had an extra thick base weighing 14 pounds instead of 11 pounds.
This model was only made for a few years and utilizes the extra thick lower chome stem like the atlas MS-25 stand except that this has 3 chrome stems for extra range of lower and higher height. The lowest this stand sits at is 28 inches which is great for kids, drums or a musician who is sitting. The highest height is 62 inches which is pretty darn close to 6 feet and more than enough for the tallest of users.
The original chrome on all stems shows virtually no wear. The original Atlas logo on the stem is still there and looks great. The action clutches holds the stems in place nicely. The 3 original rubber pads are in very good condition andkeep the stand from scratching the floor. The cast iron basehas original paint and in great shape with almost zero scuffs, scratches...no chips. This stand is a real gem.
Overall this stand is an easy 9 + on a scale of 1 - 10. This would make a very nice display stand for your vintage 1960\'smicrophone and the thread is universal so any mic will fit on this stand. Any Atlas baby boom arm will fit on this stand as well. As with all my vintage microphones and stands...
