Vintage Restored Motorola 1950\'s 2 way radio for Police Fire vintage car Dragnet:
$125.00

I basically hand craft these re-productions from old Motorola radio equipment. You get a brand new coiled cord on the mike, not the 40 year old cord from the 1960\'s. Unit is wired to your 12 volt battery. You can control the speaker volume on this unit with the audio signal coming from your own scanner\'s speaker jack. Some buyers have plugged in an MP 3 player withpolice radio callscoming out the speaker, or of course your own local police radio calls. Read the sale carefully to see if you want to own one of these neat old replica radios for your own vintage police caror yourcollection shelf.

PLEASE NOTE: The last 2 photos show 1) the original Motorola advertisement and 2) an oldradio control head from a Motorola website ( not the one I have on sale) . There is no trunk mounted radiobox that goes in the trunk as would have been originally supplied by Motorola. This sale is only for what is pictured in the first 6 photos me be very clear and up front on this sale so the buyer fully understands what this is. This is an accurate re-creation / re-production of an under dash policeradio seen on many old movies and TV shows like the original Dragnet and Highway Patrol. I include a microphone bracket for the dash mount. I usevintage Motorola radio parts like the mike, control head, and the metal speaker.Does not receive radio transmissions by itself. I spend a lot of time stripping, sanding, priming, painting and wiring for a realistic looking product, hence the price. You use yourpolice scanner to plug into my 8 foot cord jack.Radio traffic comes out of the Motorola speaker and the volume control on the radiocontrols the volume ( turn up your scanner to the max) .Has the very heavy die-cast zinc metal mike of the period..... No plastic here !! Brand new microphone cord.

Here are the really coolparts of what I have created.

1) This unit has been wired allowingyou to plug your own police scanner into the attached 1/8 plugso your scanner will play through the Motorola speaker and the volume control on the Motorola control head will controlthe volume . Each unit is tested on my own police scanner and works and sounds great. From some of my customers, they report they have hooked up an MP3 player withpolice audio traffic recorded off of the TV show, neat idea, or even an old cassette player with LAPD or CHP radio traffic from Youtube playing out the speaker. Make an endless 90 second tape and you are set.

2) When you keyup themicrophone button the red transmit light lights up. Really cool. The green light lights up and stays on when you switch the unit on as it did on the original radios.

3) comes with 2 mounting brackets and all wiring, plug in your scanner, put the red and black wires to 12 volt DC, preferably the ignition, plug in the speaker and you are done

HISTORY:

TWIN-V ERA, 1955-61:

MOBILES

By late 1955, Motorola had begun production of an upgraded Research Line, called the Twin-V series, named so because of their ability to work in either 6 or 12 volt vehicles depending upon the selection of power and control cabling. The American auto industry had begun the switch to 12 volt batteries in 1956, and by that time practically all Motorola Research mobiles were 6 or 12 volt compatible. This was accomplished by split transformer primaries and dynamotors with dual windings.Much of the Twin-V series differs little from the original Research Line, except for an expanded choice of optional receivers and transmitter power levels, and that all mobile models were capable of either 6 or 12 volt DC input. The transmitter and receiver strips from the Research Line were slightly upgraded to feature more modern tube types, but were otherwise variations of the same theme. The original Research Line mobiles, in the second generation type numbering scheme, continued to be made for a few years into the Twin-V era, probably simply to exhaust existing stock. The typical service manual, on the cover page, will use the words \"Research Line\" as well as \"Twin-V\" simultaneously.
