Tug of War - Girl & Dog - Artist Signed Original Antique Armor Bronze Bookends
1920\'s Salvatore Morani sculptural art nouveau bookends made by Armor Bronze, The National Metalizing Company, NYC. This pair of bookends is titled \'Tug of War\' and they feature a child in tall grass, playing tug of war on his/her nightshirt with an adorable puppy. They\'re about 7\" tall and 5\" at the longest. The back of each bookend is marked \'S. Morani\' along with the copyright symbol and the Armor Bronze shield hallmark. They\'re made of plaster with a polychrome. There\'s lots of nice patina, some surface wear and plenty of age.CONDITION ISSUES: There\'s five small pin holes on the back of one child. The same child also has a small surface chip on his/her leg (please see the last two photos). There\'s traces of green and red in the \'tall grass\' area of the bookends so I believe these were originally polychromed in those colors. The felt is missing on the bottoms.
