Vintage Sans Souci Amusement Park Pennant circa 1960:

This virtually impossible to find pennant comes from Sans Souci Park, which was located in Hanover Township, PA, adjacent to Wilkes-Barre. It is guaranteed old, unused stock. The pennants from the park came in different colors and this one is one of the best. The date estimate range is 1958-1963. It is in NM+ condition. The only tiny flaws are two specks of blue in the yellow binding, caused in storage by the pennant on top of it.

The park opened in 1893 and closed in 1973. It was the coolest place around - picture a smaller version of Knoebel\'s. Along with great rides, games, pool,food and arcade, there was a dance hall where high school kids went every Saturday to hear the house band, Joe Nardone and the All Stars or the hot groups/artists of the day - Gary Puckett and the Union Gap, The Box Tops, Sam the Sham & the Pharaohs, Neil Diamond, etc. Kids never asked each other if they were going to Souci on Saturday night. They asked - what time are you going to Souci? It is the current site of Hanover Area Junior-Senior High School. It\'s a good school - not quite as cool as the park.
