Vivianne TorunBülow-Hübe is the most internationally celebrated Swedish silversmith of thepostwar period. Using asymmetric, fluid forms in silver combined, sometimes combined withsemi-precious stones, she created jewelry that strongly broke withtradition. Her early hand-made jewelry from the 1950’s became an instantsuccess in Paris where she lived at the time. She earned clients such as PabloPicasso, Brigitte Bardot, Ingrid Bergman and Billy Holiday, who all werefascinated by her innovative designs of sculptural forms tracing the contoursof the wearers body.

In the 1950’s,Bülow-Hübe started a long relationship with the Danish company Georg Jensen. AtJensen she was involved with a company whose founder had as great a passion forsilver as she herself had. Like her, Georg Jensen, originally created jewelryfor people who valued the beauty and design of handcrafted objects, of which this is one. Vivianne Torun Bülow-Hübe died in 2004.
