VINTAGE STERLING & TURQUOISE NAVAJO HORSE HEADSTALL SIGNED HERBERT CAYATINETO:
$3500.00

Offeredhere is a spectacular vintage expertly hand crafted, heavy Sterlingsilverand turquoise head stall by Navajo silversmith Herbert Cayatineto. There’sa lot to describe on this fantastic headstall so I will allow the pictures speakfor it and will try to be as brief as possible! The headstall consists of a twolarge, two medium, four small rectangular stamped conchos, two oval scallopedstamped conchos with silver drops, two large round scalloped stamped repouseedconchos with large silver drops and a central concho with a stamping and freeform hand cut turquoise stone in a saw tooth bezel and twisted wire. It alsohas two stamped 3-dimentional silver ‘horns’ topped with flattened silver beadsand finally, a stamped silver buckle and keeper. Each concho has a copperbracket that holds the concho to the leather strap. The leather straps are alladjustable and have leather ties as seen in the pictures. The headstall ishallmarked Sterling and bears the maker’s initials HClisted in Hougart’s “Marks on Southwest Silver”. I have had this headstall formany years and it has acquired a lovely patina. (However, it can be polishedshould you wish to do that.) It is in completely original, mint condition withno damage to stone or silver. We don’t see Sterling silver headstalls veryoften because of the enormous amount of Sterling silver used and work involvedin the making of them!! This one is both classic in design and striking in thesilverwork and stamping! It would be fantastic to see this headstall on a showhorse (instead of my plastic one!) so CLASSY!
