Vintage Victorian Edwardian 1880\'s 1800\'s 2 pc women\'s dress velvet lace RARE:
$45.00

This is a woman\'s 2 piece ensemble from the late 1800\'s. It is an original garment, not a reproduction. While it has numerous flaws, it is wearable and quite lovely. The dress presents well and has no mold or musty smell. It has been stored lovingly for many years.
THE TOPThe top has fur trim(type unknown)around the collar and cuffs, small weights at the bottom for drape, and intricate detail work. It is made of a variety of fabrics including a gabardine wool, velvet, lace, silk and satin. The label inside reads \"L. P. Hollander & Co. Boston.\" There is also some handwriting on an interior label that reads: \"Bliss 40254,\" possibly the original owner\'s name and a cleaner\'s number.
There are several layers of decorative and functional closures under the brown outermost top (pictures #6 & #7). There are small holes and loose seams in numerous places in the linings and the top.One of the layers of silk lining is torn and incomplete (picture #11).The silk lining directly underneath the collar is frayed (picture #12). Also some of the fur is gone at the back of the collar (visible in picture #3).
Waist at the lining: 22\" (designed to be worn with a corset)
Waist at the brown outer portion: 28\"Length: 18\" overall, 21\" at drop
Sleeve length: 24\" (top of shoulder to wrist)
Back at brown outer portion: 20\" (underarm to underarm)
THE SKIRTThe skirt has satin and silk linings over virgin/gabardine wool and velvet. The velvet layer has small weights sewn in the lining for drape. There are numerous small tears in the wool which were stitched closed( picture #9.) There is also an approximate 10\" tear in the underskirt (picture #10) that is underneath a layer of velvet (and not visible when worn).
Waist: 26\"
Length: 37\"
There may be other blemishes, spots, tears, or wear, including loose/open seams, All said, this is a truly fashionable, handsome and rare antique garment. It would look lovely as a display piece. It would fit a petite size 2-4 woman as it is. I can imagine that it could be reworked to fit a medium size woman by changing out the jacket lining and inner clasps.
This is part of my sale of the many textiles, vintage clothing, and other items I\'ve held onto for years. I\'m also selling a vintage brown satin muff that matches this dress beautifully, so please check my other listings. The dress has been stored in my smoke-free, mold-free house. Please email me with any questions.
