sOriginal watercolor painting circa 1960s.Artist\'s notes on the bottom
indicate that it\'s the artist\'s
proposal for feminine fashion departments décor
at Macy\'s Parkchester.Measures about
29.5 inches wide x about 21.5 inches high.Paintingand inscription ingood condition.
Paper issues include a few small tears
and a great deal of roughness around the edges.
Though it\'s not signed,
we\'re confident that it\'s by William Riggs (1909-1996),
of Van Houten Fields in West Nyack, NY.
It came to us from his estate many years ago,
as part of a large collection of his works --
some signed, some not.Riggs was noted for his watercolor paintings of
the West Nyack area, as well as for some very nicedrawings, portraits and figural works.
He also designed displays and décor for severalNew York stores such as Macy\'s and Bloomingdales.
We\'ll be listing several of each type in coming weeks --all from that collection originally acquired from
