Honestly I don\'t know a great deal about sewing machines, but I plugged this sewing machine in to test it and the machine seemed to work. Basically, what I did was I stepped on the pedal and listened for the motor. The motor was running and the needle was working; moving up and down slowly. Thus I assume that this machine is in working condition. However, I am not 100 percent sure that the singer can effectively sew a blanket, i am willing to say that it works and turns on. The 1949 Singer Sewing Machine is portable and comes with the original wood caring case. This machine also comes with 3 packs of original singer sewing needles, some tread, a button kit, a light, some additional parts and the factory tools that came with it. In essence, this vintage sewing machine is over 60 years old and is a great piece of Americana history.
