I am selling a vintage Native American (Zuni) Shalako Kachina pinwith Mosaic inlaid Jet, Shell andTurquoise and coral. This is a beautiful piece of quality work in both -the silver work and Masterfulinlay-, for such a vintage piece. The attention to detail is from top to bottom. Many times youmight find a masterful example of silver work, but average inlay or sometimes it is the otherway around, but rarely does the silver work match the quality of the inlay. This pin was made by thenow deceased husband and wife team of Augustine and Rosalie Pinto- signed ARP, (in their distinctstamp style). Zuni Masterful quality piece inlaid of assorted natural materials- Turquoise, MediterraneanRed Coral, Mother of Pearl shell, Jet and looks to be Gold lipped Mother of Pearl shell too. This pin
likely dates to 1950\'s or 1960\'s, in origin. Hand fabricated of silver (coin silver .900, or better). The pin is aShalako Kachina ( Salako Mana) and represents a Kachina that first arrived at Zuni in approx. 1840. TheShalako are considered the God\'s messengers and run back and forth all year long carrying messages, as wellas bringing moisture and rain when needed and carry prayers from Zuni requesting rain for crops, etc.. Thepin is in excellent condition with no visible flaws, and measures approx. 2 1/2 inches tall and 1 and 3/4 inches wideand weighs 16.2 grams.
