This is a beautiful quality vintage circa 1945 sterling silver Scottish Celtic Arts Industries luckenbooth brooch. For years after the death of Alexander Ritchie in 1941 a company was formed called Celtic Art Industries was founded in 1945 by Hamish Bowman and enthusiast of Ritchies work and also the ancient and medieval carved stones of Iona.
The Luckenbooth is an ancient Scottish lovers token where two hearts are merged into one and often have a crown on top to symbolise the crowning of the merger.
The brooch has a full set of stamps with sterling silver, Iona, and CAI for Celtic Art Industries.The brooch is 3.3 cm in length ( One and a third inches ) and the pin and locking clasp are in good working condition and original.
