Vintage \"Owl\" Native American Carving by Raymond Parhett :
$99.99

Up for offer is another collectible Native American carving by Navajo artist, Raymond Parchett. I acquired it sometime in the late \'80\'s while in Arizona. The doll was meticulously carved, crafted, hand-painted, and then adorned with feathers, shells, bells, fur, suede loincloth, shoulder harness, elbow and knee straps. \"Owl\" dancer, standing on his left leg with his right leg bent and up in the air suggests movement as though he\'s in mid-dance. One can almost hear the beat of drums and other instruments and visualize the spirits he\'s invoking. He holds a rattle in his right hand and several sticks in his left. The detail is (to use an overly used phrase today) amazing! It truly applies here though. Case in point, although I\'m not sure photos reveal it, if you look inside the owl\'s beak you can see that he has a tongue! This figure is rather large, standing approx. 16\" tall with a base which is approx. 5-1/2\" in dia. He commands a presence and deserves the space. The creator/artist, Raymond Parhett, surely was in a state of \"hozho\" (roughly translated to beauty) when he crafted this exquisite piece and obviously intended for that beauty to be passed on to the recipient. I\'ve treasured and admired this for several years but circumstances require me to part with it. Please be assured that if you purchase this or any of my other items I\'ll pack it with loving care and promptly send it on it\'s way safely. Thanks for viewing and, happy collecting!
