Demure and bombshell in the same dress? Believe it!
This vintage dress is made in a soft, itch-free virgin wool with a high round neckline and raglan sleeve shaping. The dress alternates garter stitch stripes with stocking stitch stripes of an overall banded look that is shaped with a woman\'s contours in mind.
The neckline and shoulder seam styling suggests that this dress is either late 50s or early 60s, but it still retains some of the bombshell era styling of the 40s too. It\'s really a classic look with vintage flair!
It was not easy to photograph this dress - it\'s a little lumpy looking on my dress form but with the curves built in would flatter a feminine figure to perfection! It\'s a beautiful deep black, too. (I over exposed in a few frames to try to help you see the garter stitch bands that make up the dress.) Metal zip closure at back.
The tag says \"New York Venezia / Cadillac / 16 Handfashioned in Italy / Pure virgin wool.\" I don\'t know if the number refers to a size but please use these measurements to see if it might be the right fit for you. All measurements were taken with the dress lying flat and unstretched, and were doubled for the measurements listed. There is easily 1 - 2\" stretch all around.
Bust (from underarm to underarm) - 38\"Waist - 30\"Hip - 36\"Length (shoulder to hem): 41\" (note: unhemmed so finished length would be shorter)
Condition: This vintage dress is in excellent condition, particularly for a wool garment. There are no signs of moth bites or fraying in the garment and no stains or odors that aren\'t normal for any woolen garment. (A little fuzz shows in the overexposed photos but it\'s not wear to the fabric.) There are two matters that need attention though: the metal zipper needs to be restitched to the dress at the bottom (about 2\" have pulled free), and the dress is not currently hemmed.
