This silver-gilt and enamel spoon is in very good condition for its age, with only a little wear to some of the enamel round the bowl edge. (NB. the semi-circle of silver giltin the bowl at the base of the stem ishow the spoon was manufactured). The gilt appears complete, though theremay be a little fading on the front of the stem. The enamel crest has a verytiny chip to the top. The spoon depicts the Volker Schlacht Denkmal (People\'s War Memorial?) in Leipzig.

The spoon carries the German marks for 800 silver for items made after 1888, plus the maker\'s mark. I estimate the age to be late 19th/early 20thcentury. The fact that itshows a war memorial could indicate it is post World War one, but Germany also had wars towards the end of 19th century, so this could be for any of them. The spoon weighs approx. 18.4g. and is approx. 125mm/5\" long.

The items I am selling are from my own collection, whichI have built up over 20+ years. I have decided to rationalize my collection and concentrate on fewer areas, and so I am selling the items which no longer fit in with my collecting criteria.
