Today we are selling a painted tole tray by John Dunn (1954-2016). Dunn was a Massachusetts folk/tole art painter and a student of Peter Ompir, master folk art painter. Dunn painted mostly decorative items and also did some framed pieces. This metal tole tray dates to 1991 and depicts a colonial New England gentleman riding a beautiful gray horse, surrounding the figures are cascading bunches of grapes. The inner side of the rim is decorated with a leaf motif. All decorative motifs are painted upon a dark and rick terracotta background. The outside is simply decorated with a bordered gold band. This metal tole tray dates to 1991 and depicts a colonial New England gentleman riding a beautiful gray horse, surrounding the figures are cascading bunches of grapes.
