50th ANNIVERSARY item!!! Up for sale is a color photo promoting the 1960\'s Sci-Fi television series, Voyage To the Bottom Of the Sea which ran on ABC television from 1964-1968. It features a nice view of our beloved Seaview submarine. Also, with this being the 50th Anniversary of the show\'s debut, this is a rare collector piece and it is also rarely available. During the 60\'s, television not only entertained, but it also transported the viewer\'s imagination into another world. Hence, this is why the Twilight Zone, Star Trek and even Batman television shows are finding new audiences! Created by Irwin Allen, Voyage was the longest running of the four Sci-Fi shows that he produced. ABC aired Voyage To the Bottom Of the Sea, The Time Tunnel and Land of the Giants, while CBS aired Lost In Space. The 1960\'s saw a dramatic change in television viewing. It was the time when the television industry pulled out all stops and splashed color onto the airwaves almost overnight as all shows for the 1966 season had to be presented in COLOR. So, for the first time, fans of many shows could finally see what the actors and sets looked like in COLOR. Talk about an eye-opener! This photo was made from an original color promo slide which could be used during the shows broadcast just prior to a commercial break with an announcer saying something like, \"The Time Tunnel, brought to you by...\" then the sponsor promo would appear. Also, as a rule mandated by the FCC at that time, a television station had to periodically identify itself with their call letters and location. Again, this slide image would appear on your TV screen and a network announcer would say, \"Voyage To the Bottom Of the Sea will return after station identification...\" This would cue the local TV station announcer to follow with, \"You\'re watching WTAE-TV, Pittsburgh.\" These slides were routinely used during a show\'s broadcast and were a regular part of television viewing. Unfortunately, slides like this were usually discarded after the show\'s cancellation and because of this are very rare. Due to the deteriorated condition of this slide, many hours were spent digitally editing and enhancing the image back to its original quality to produce a print that fans can enjoy. This is not a one of a kind photo, however, it is produced from an original slide. The photo is an 8x10, printed on Kodak quality paper and is VERY suitable for framing.
