Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a rare, killer CAPRI chalkware lamp with its original accompanying fiberglass shades that dates back to the 50s. The shades are almond-shaped, beige in color and they have horizontal and vertical white painted lines throughout. The chalkware base is quite heavy, and was painted a silvery color with hints of pink beneath. There is an on/off knob located on the side of the side of the base which allows for three-way functionality: either one shade or the other can light independently of the other, or a third twist of the knob will allow both sockets to light up at the same time. The lamp is signed and dated: Copyright Capri 1955 (see photo).
Measurements: With the shades attached, the lamp stands approx. 21.5\" tall x 21\" wide. The base measures approx. 12\" wide x 7\" deep x 2\" thick. Each of the fiberglass shades measures approx. 10.25\" wide x 6.75\" tall x 5\" deep.
Condition: While the lamp is in good, presentable condition, there are a few issues worth mentioning: 1.) it looks like there was a careful repair done at one point in time to the upper-most portion of the plaster - it\'s barely visible now, and you have to look for it to notice it (see photos); 2.) it appears the base was re-painted at one point in time - not really sure what the original colors were on this one - now it\'s a metallic silvery grey with hints of pink coloration underneath; 3.) there is a small quarter-sized burn mark on the bottom panel of one of the shades from an excessively hot bulb (see photo) - if the shade is attached to the bulb with this panel facing downward, no one will know as it isn\'t seen when in this position; 4.) one shade was re-laced at one point in time, while the other still has the original lacing (some of which is brittle in spots) - the shades are structurally solid and the lacing holes are all intact should you decide you want to replace the lacing on the shade with the original lacing. The electrical wiring looks to be original to the lamp, and it is in fine shape - no frays, splits, exposed wires, brittle sections, etc. While the lamp is in fully-functioning, working condition, we highly recommend having the wiring checked by a licensed professional prior to long-term use. It\'s a fantastic lamp as it is, and it\'s ready for use and/or display!
