Hi, thanks for looking, please read the whole AD and ask any questions if you have any. We have here a VERY RARE,vintage solid wood sculpture figurine by ANRI Wood Carvers in Italy. This is fully and correctly signed 2 times. ANRI is carved into the base and on the bottom there is a RARE paper label which dates this to around 1952. This also has a retailer\'s decal on the back of the base. This a BIG piece and well carved. It stands about 11.5\'\' tall and the base is about 4.25\'\' x 4.875\'\' across. The Monk or Friar is well carved with a happy pleasing expression on his old face. He is carrying a jug / pitcher of perhaps wine or water. As an elderly gentleman he has a walking stick or staff. He also has his rosary beads with him and he is dressed in a typical robe with a rope belt. This is a beautiful piece and all original with no repairs I know of. It has been in the family for decades on a shelf out of direct sunlight so this has nice color. As a vintage piece around 60 yrs old the wood has formed a deep dark rich patina, which only comes with age. This is a BIG Commanding piece and it\'s near museum quality.
This is100% COMPLETE PIECE with it\'sBASE.
This is inExcellent CONDITION with one minor flaw we know of, which is a chip off the collar behind the neck. See photo. This could easily be touched up but it has never bothered us and part of its history and charm.
We collect figurines and knowHOWto INSPECT this for flaws and / or damage. We did aVERY Careful VISUAL & TOUCH EXAM of everysurface. This \'\'rings\'\' like a BELL, which is what you want to hear so you know there are NO HIDDEN cracks in the wood as a crack would thud.
There are NO other Chips, Nicks, Dings,Cracksor Losswe can find. The wooden base we would give a 9 plus with a tiny bit of light wear which is normal and to be expected.
This is FULLY& CORRECTLY signed on the base as shown.
