Vintage Mele Jewelry Chest from the early 70\'s

Huge in size and will store lots and lots of jewelry!

Construction is a wood frame covered with cream colored leather with gold dotted accents.

Interior is a vivid purple, velvet type lining that is traditionally used in jewelry chests and boxes.

This box is huge in size and measures 23.5 inches x 8.5 inches x 10 inches (closed dimensions). This is a BIG jewelry chest!

This chest is over 40 years old. I know this for a fact, because I received the same one for a birthday gift in 1973.

This chest is truly impressive and has many drawers and lift up storage areas. Top lid opens up to reveal three big storage areas with a lift out for earrings (each with 12 compartments)on both sides and an automatic lift up for rings. the area behind the rings has a mirror that will help you see to put on your jewelry.

Bottom has six drawers. Drawers on theleft are as follows: Top one has 12 compartments for earrings. Middle one has three lengthwise divisions that would be ideal for necklaces or bracelets. Bottom drawer has two compartments, which would be ideal for larger necklaces. Right side drawers are as follows: Top one is one big storage area. Middle is divided into three sections. Bottom one is divided into two, large storage areas.

There are some imperfections mostly from storage as opposed to usage. Most notably, the lifting part of the handle on the right side is broken off and missing. This is a very heavy chest and the side handles were made to be decorative and not to be used for lifting. Exterior and interior are pristine.

The exterior leather has a few superficial little dings and tiny indentations from being stored over the years.

Also, there is a little slit and scratch in the leather and metal near /on the left carry handle. I would guess this happened when the original owner tried to lift it by its decorative handles. That is, the right handle broke and someone\'s engagement ring scratched the opposite side...just my theory. This interior is spotless with no color loss and smells fresh. The only notable imperfection on the interior is a little ring on the center section of the top, velvet storage area.

Brass hardware, predominantly the locking latches have some wear, but no rust.

Both keys are included and are still affixed to there Mele factory card.

Interior is very clean with no spills, tears, or stains. There are a few area to the purple lining where you can tell a few items were stored.....mostly on the upper sections. Very clean both inside and out and smells fresh.

Water or glue mark (left side) on the satin that connects the lid to the top storage area.

Some of the felt on the base is a offer worn in the corners.

Please remember that this chest is over 40 years old. It is in exceptional condition as far as a vintage chest. Please remember that you are buying a vintage chest and not a brand new one.

Inside is very clean and still has the classic Mele aroma, which is quite nice.

Comes from a non smoking home with no shedding pets.
