David Pelbam was born in 1932 and believed to be anAustrian Native that fled just before Hitlers invasion for the United States.Once settled down, Pelbam called Rhode Island his home where he began paintingportraits of the same old man in a variety of disguise ranging from Rabi, DockHand to Sea Captain. Interestingly enough, and not widely known, the man in thepaintings was none other than David Pelbam himself! Once Pelbam passed away in2004, his paintings took a central run for the art market, skyrocketing invalue and desire. What once was considered a valueless painting has now broughtsale results well into the thousands. His work continues to increase invalue as they are few and far to come by.

David Pelbam was well respected for his work, it was not as popular as some, but became increasingly popular due to the subject, and the eyes, and the way he captured emotion. Since his death in 2004 his work is highly collectible.
