Vtg Peacock Necklace Carved Bovine Bone Bead Red Green Polka Dot Bird Faux Ivory:

This uniquely carved necklace has a neck opening of 18\" with a pear shaped attached pendant measuring 1 7/8\" long x 1 1/4\" wide. The pendant has a carved peacock on the front with a pierced sawtooth edging. The bail is also carved out of the same solid piece of curved bone and is strung on the whitecotton cording along with the beads. There are 3.5mm round plain beads and long 3D beads measuring 12mm to 15mm, the length varies because they are hand carved. They have 4 sides, each with a carved peacock to match the pendant; a lot of work. These beads and the pendant have carved out holes, like polkadots, with the depressions painted in red and green. Quite an eyecatcher. The necklace fastens with a working brass screw barrel clasp. This fabulous piece is in excellent vintage condition. Because of the choice of subject I presume this to be a Chinese rather than Mexican piece. Handmade one-of-a-kind. All measurements are approximate.
