Vtg Scottish Hallmarked Sterling Agate Citrine Celtic Brooch Kilt Pin:

This type of pin has been used in Scotland since the Medieval times as ornament on traditional tartan outfits.

It has the hallmarks for Scotland, Sterling, Glasgow and, as best as I can tell, the year 1958.

It also has a partial hallmark that shows part of what I think is an R and a whole A which I believe stand for the maker Robert Alexander. The center stone is prong set and superbly faceted with a beautiful yellow color.

I do not know if it is Citrine or an Agate which Scotland is famed for, but it could also be glass.

The silver around the center has the distinctive Celtic knot design and there is a shallow dent on the edge.Please refer to the photos.

It measures approximately 1 ½” in diameter, weighs 20gr. and has a working safety clasp.
