This is a very unusual item. It is a vintage/antique/collectible picture frame depicting a stylized mouse and duck resembling Mickey and Donald. It is made of some type of phatent? (plastic? chemical? wood?) called tarwood. There is an insert in the frame that shows it is called a Tarwood Frame and gives a brief description of the material. It holds a 3 1/2\" by 5\" picture. The outer dimensions of the frame are 4 3/4\" wide by 6 1/2\" long and 6 1/2\" wide by 9 1/2\" long when the animal figures are added and is 5/8\" deep. It appears to be carved in one piece, the mouse and duck are wearing blue, red and brown colored clothing and it has a glass insert. It has hooks to let it be hung either horizontally or vertically. I think it might be from the 1930\'s or 40\'s due to the type of material (an early plastic?) and the subject matter (early or stylized representations of Mickey and Donald). It is in excellent condition with the exception of one approximately 1/4\" spot on the right side (pictured). I have tried to research this (Tarwood and phatent) on the internet and could find nothing - other than there is a pine tree by that name in New Zealand.
