Fabulous Early American Pattern Glass high standard covered compote with a three dimensional sphinx on the foot of the base and three different scenes circling the bowl of the compote: 1) the parthenon with the text \"Ruins of Parthenon\" underneath 2) a pyramid with a camel and person 3) a column with a sphinx.
A wonderful pattern and great mold work in excellent condition. Made by Adams & Co., circa 1880.
Size: appx. 8 1/4\" diameter; appx. 11 3/4\" high
Condition: Overall excellent condition - LID - one tiny nick on each handle on finial - hard to see but there, 1 flake on outside edge, inside lip has 4 flakes & several nicks: BASE - excellent - no chips or cracks, minor roughness upper edge
Original Manufacturers Flaws: large & small bubbles & annealing marks
