An original World War One related letter written by Charles Krejc who was a Navy Sailor, he wasa musician in a band in the Navy. The letter is dated Norfolk Va June 16-18. I currently have other letters listed by this musician. The letter reads:

Dear folks

Well this time I write to you from a different place. I have been transfered from the Naval base back to the old place at St Helena..........they say they have a good orchestra down here Play three concerts a day and not very much work.........I began to get ready to go to sea. The bandmaster off the Mississippi wanted a bass player but this man beat him to it.........The USS Mississippi is docked just across the river from here and she is sure a pretty boat. My old friend A.D. scott was over to see me one day last week. I was glad to see him. He is on the USS is in good condition with some wear.
