FIRESTONE mfgr TYPE-8 WW2 US M1 HELMET from my helmet collection.
came from the same batch of surplus disposal warehouse dead stock obtained REPAIRS:-two inverted A-washers have been replacement repaired with a \'hollow\' holding rivet.probably done postwar by?SPECS:
-type 8 high pressure plastic liner (Oosterman classification)
-FIRESTONE mfgr logo mold marked with \'A 12\' below the F-shield logo
- khaki tan HBT multiple-Vee web suspension with leather sweatband dye discoloration.
has mfgr VOGT \'V\' ink stamped in (2) places
-the webbing appears to have been little used.
-corrosion inhibitor coated finish on the inverted A washers..(2) are replaced by hollow rivet
-female neckband snap buttons are \'U.C.F.C.\' (UNITED CARR FASTENER CO.) markedand rivet snaps & are mildew inhibitor coated.
-undimpled brass metal garter studs w/ corrosion inhibitor coating
-has the triple HBT ROUOND center lace tie cord w/ NO fraying off the end tipsEXTERIOR:
-GOOD! textured phenolic resin OD exterior factory finish which is 98% present AND ORIGINAL!
with some very minimal scratches/abrasion scrapes, scuffs.
-feels like fine grit sandpaper. surface is NOT WORN SMOOTH!
-good amount of factory OD paint still covering the front brass eyelet grommet and all outer rivet heads...
-center brass eyelet grommet has its OD paint finish intact
COND:
-there is \'V\' shaped upper dome crack....goes thru the fiberglass-there is 1/4\" edge tear on the left side edge-there are two tiny tiny edge nicks on the right side edge-CONDITION - as described
basically a 100% honest late war liner.ONCE inside a STEEL POT....you can\'t really tell the difference
-if you purchased from me before....you know where i\'m coming from.
