AMAZING WW2 JAPANESE HAND-HELD WIND GUAGE OR ANEMOMETER,

JAPANESE IMPERIAL NAVY MARKINGS,

IN ORIGINAL BOX - ALSO INEXC COND,

THE GUAGEWORKS PERFECT!

I blew on it and got it up to 15 (knots?) easy.

DATED PAPERWORK MATCHES TO GUAGE NUMBER

RARE!!!!!

This WWII original Japanese Navy Guage is in almost mint condition. Inside the face of the guage is the serial number \"724\". The paper tag inside the box is hand numbered \"724\" and is dated 28Feb1945 (according to my Japanese friend who translated.) It reads:

Anemometer Correction Record

No. 724, Feb. 28th Showa 20 (1945)

The Table: First row is the \"value\". Second row is the \"correction\"

Below table is \"Japan Keiki (which means instrument) Manufacture Co.

The tag on the wooden box reads\"

Anemometer 3

724

Showa 20 February

Box is 9\" x 5\" x 5\"

Guage is about 13 \" tall when handle is screwed on.

Minor Flaws: The back of the frame of the guage has the paint worn off the corner where it rests in the box. See last pic. The wooden block that has a swing arm to hold in the handle is loose. It must have been glued in and the glue has come loose. I cannot even see any glue on the wood block. The screws that hold on the carry strap have pulled out of the wood. I will let you make repairs. A little wood glue will fix the small block. Some wood fillershould fill old screw holes (clean out first), and the screws canbe re-set. I would NEVER carry this by the handle. Eventually the canvas handle will break or the screws might pull out again as they are pretty short for this heavy instrument.

I would love to finish the research and see if this guage was used on Japanese aircraft carriers. I\'m sure the ship has guages mounted to the ship to measure wind speed, but I wonder if other personnel like the squadron commander had one of their own to use.

Will make a greatgift for any military collector.
